Who we are

45 North Farm is a small family run farm nestled in the heart of Idaho started by us, Jo and Michael, in 2012. Our original dream was to start a grass-based seasonal dairy and make raw-milk, aged cheeses. With a lot of optimism, hard work, determination and community support we were able to successfully build a Grade-A commercial dairy in Salmon, Idaho and began making and selling cheese. In 2019 Jo developed a severe allergy to dairy, so we had to make a heartbreaking decision to sell our dairy cows and creamery. Since then we have transitioned our herd to beef cows and relocated to the North Fork area. Now we have a small herd of happy cows that we raise only on lush green pastures, mountain views, and clear water. We take a lot of care and pride in managing our pastures and animals to not only produce the best beef possible, but also to maintain the wildlife habitat and biodiversity found here. We try to pay homage to our cows by utilizing as much as we can when we harvest them and love experimenting with smoking, cooking, curing and fermenting. We love sharing our passion for raising healthy animals, making delicious food, and enjoying all the bounty our area has to offer with our customers and community. When we’re not calving, feeding, irrigating or gardening, you can find us hiking, fishing, foraging, floating, riding and exploring with our family.
